And now I'm bashful 😳
Happy Monday! We’ve got lots of trends and memes to get around this week ✨
Oh mate DON’T SAY THAT
A gross Bob Katter moment has gone viral as a CapCut template for when you hear something you really don’t want to hear.

Bye Sophia
An audio of this mischievous line reading has gone viral for when you farewell someone but have ulterior motives. Think: “saying goodbye to my coworker at 5.30 knowing we’re about to get drinks” or “leaving the cafe with my iced latte knowing I’ll be back at least 3 times today.”

I’m bashful
Remember Ashby, the creator going viral for Lorax-posting? No surprise here, but she’s become a CapCup template, most notably for her “bashful” quote.

Mr Beast crashes out
Last week Rolling Stone magazine released their list of the “25 Most Influential Creators of 2025” and ranked Mr Beast number 7 and comedian Caleb Hearon number 6—which Mr Beast took personally. In a now-deleted tweet, he asked how “a guy with 1 million followers is more influential than me”, leading to discussions about how follower count /= influence and people sharing their unabashed love for Hearon.
He also seems to think that The Rolling Stones the band runs Rolling Stone magazine.
We have a new CEO to hate (not SK, we ❤️ you)
The millionaire CEO of a Polish paving company was caught on camera stealing a hat meant for a child at the US Open. It’s not on par with the Coldplay CEO, but people have rallied around this opportunity to slam another out-of-touch millionaire—especially after he addressed his actions in a now-deleted post:
“Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served… If you were faster, you would have it… I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of taking the matter to court.”

Is Trump dead?
The internet was convinced that Trump had died on the weekend. It all started when a journalist called out the fact the president had no official events scheduled for the Labour Day weekend. Combined with the persistent bruise on his hand, a spike in pizza orders to the White House and JD Vance saying he was ready to take over if, “god forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy,” (especially given the memes about Vance killing the Pope) people were convinced something big was about to happen. It didn’t, but it was still a Big Day Online.
You can now see Retention stats for your Reels
Instagram’s new Retention chart shows the exact moment you lose your audience’s interest. It’s a handy new tool to see what your audience likes and doesn’t like about your videos, and to help find the ideal length for your content.
They also flagged that the retention chart will always show a “downward slope, but the flatter the line, the more engaged your audience is.”
And in the next few weeks they’re replacing View Rate with Skip Rate to further help identify these sweet spots.
“While view rate shows what percentage watched past the first 3 seconds of your Reel, skip rate is the percentage of views from people who decided to skip your reel during those first 3 seconds.”
YouTube Shorts may be “improved” with AI after posting
YouTube is testing a new process that uses machine learning to unblur, denoise and improve the clarity of Shorts. The aim is that you can upload a mid-quality video and it will be posted in a higher quality, but some people are concerned that the process will make even properly designed videos look like AI-generated slop.
It’s unlikely that any of our content will be affected right now as it’s a very small-scale experiment, but it’s definitely worth being aware of if you create Shorts content for clients.
